The Mental Health Centers of Western Illinois is seeking dependable, compassionate, and observant individuals to join our Residential Program team as Mental Health Technicians. This role is ideal for someone who is dedicated to supporting individuals living with chronic mental illness and committed to providing quality, person-centered care. This position is for second shift from 4p-12a.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver’s license required
- Weekend availability required
- Experience in mental health or human services preferred
Position Overview
Mental Health Technicians provide direct support and continuous monitoring to clients in a residential setting. This position requires strong observational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to respond appropriately to situations involving a specialized population. Technicians play a key role in promoting client independence, safety, and progress toward treatment goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe, document, and report client behaviors, progress, and needs during each shift
- Monitor and document medication compliance according to agency policy
- Assist clients with activities of daily living, including hygiene, meal preparation, laundry, and health monitoring
- Provide minor first aid and prepare clients for medical appointments or tests
- Support treatment plan goals and participate in six-month plan reviews
- Facilitate and implement client activities
- Respond professionally and effectively in emergency situations
- Maintain communication between shifts and attend monthly staff meetings
- Complete required documentation and reports accurately and timely
- Ensure facility safety by reporting maintenance concerns
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client and agency information
- Participate in required trainings and cross-training opportunities
