OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM & POSITION:  

The Marin Family Support Specialist Program Manager works in collaboration with MHASF’s Director of Community Programs to provide oversight and management of the Family Support Specialist Program daily operations. This role is also responsible for recruitment, including working with MHASF’s HR team to assess applications, schedule phone screenings, be a part of interview panels and final hiring decisions, onboarding, training, and group supervision of Peer Support Specialists.  

 

The Marin Family Support Specialist Program Manager additionally conducts weekly individual supervision meetings for Peer Support Specialists and the Medi-Cal Eligibility Specialist; they will work with Marin Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) to receive and respond to referrals and ensure weekly support groups are marketed and facilitated for Marin County residents. They are available during MHASF business hours (Monday – Friday 10 am to 6 pm) to provide on-call consult for HR support, crisis intervention, and debriefing. They will also draw from their own Certified Peer Support Specialist status to provide 1:1 and support group facilitation and proper documentation in SMARTcare electronic healthcare records system in the rare event Peer Support Specialists are unavailable for direct service coverage. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Daily management of program operations including 1:1 and group supervision guidance, and provision of direct services for 1:1 and support group facilitation 

  • Manage and provide oversight for program deadlines including data collection, fidelity to Medi-Cal documentation standards, outcome measurement, and reporting 

  • Administer client and caregiver satisfaction and outcome surveys annually 

  • Serve as a liaison among the various BHRS program sites, clinical teams, Peer Support Specialists, and Medi-Cal Eligibility Specialist 

  • Coordinate and communicate with BHRS referral sources regarding the various responsibilities of Peer Support Specialists in service provision 

  • Attend clinical team meetings at BHRS programs when applicable   

  • Oversee the recruitment and retention process in conjunction with HR, Vice President of Peer Services, and Director of Community Programs for interview panels and final hiring decisions 

  • Continuous quality improvement and evaluation of programs and program policies on an ongoing basis   

  • Ability to travel to local and regional training sites and meetings  

Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Personal lived experience of mental health challenges, and/or experience supporting a family member through mental health challenges  

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination including booster(s) 

  • Ability to drive throughout Marin County in one’s own personal vehicle for work-related purposes; clean driving record (reimbursement for mileage is provided) 

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive professional working experience in a nonprofit and/or social service with a minimum of 1 year in team management roles 

  • Excellent understanding of mental illness diagnoses, symptoms, and impact of stigma on participants 

  • Commitment to participant empowerment, culturally competent services, and a nonjudgmental approach 

  • Demonstrated success developing and evaluating program models and selecting and successfully operationalizing innovative programs 

  • Deep familiarity with mental health recovery resources and programs 

  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth 

  • Experience coordinating events and trainings  

  • Excellent computer skills including internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

  • Collaborative team working style with ability to relate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds  

  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of MHASF 

 
DESIREABLE QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience with city, county, State, and foundation contract management and reporting  

  • Experience in conducting community-based training  

  • Individuals with lived experience of mental illness/psychiatric disabilities  

  • Experience in Medi-Cal billing 

Salary : $79,000 - $80,000
