About Us:

The Mental Health Association of South MS is a non-profit organization that has been working since 1963 to assist people with mental health challenges. We have a Drop-In Center, a homeless outreach, Gulf Coast Respite House and housing program. We also provide both Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid, as well as Wellness Recovery Action Plan workshops.

Job Summary:

The Regional Peer Support Coordinator is responsible for implementing project activities within an assigned region to strengthen and expand peer support services across Mississippi. This position focuses on engaging and recruiting participants, facilitating training, fostering peer networking opportunities, building and maintaining community partnerships, and supporting regional events. The Coordinator will play an integral role in planning and implementing project initiatives, including a one-day Peer Summit and a Peer Connection Day, while ensuring timely completion of all required reporting and documentation.

Essential Functions:

  • Recruit, engage, and support participants within the assigned region.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, behavioral health providers, peer support organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate and/or coordinate peer support training, workshops, and educational opportunities.
  • Promote and strengthen peer networking opportunities throughout the region.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and implementing project events, including: o One-day Regional Peer Summit and a Peer Connection Day
  • Conduct outreach activities to increase awareness of peer support services and project opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing support and communication to project participants.
  • Maintain accurate participant records and complete all required grant documentation and reports in a timely manner.
  • Track project outcomes and assist with data collection and evaluation activities.
  • Attend project meetings, training, and community events as required.
  • Collaborate with the GCRH Director and fellow Regional Coordinators to ensure consistent implementation of project goals across all regions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the project.

Education and Experience:

  • Current Certified Peer Support Specialist Professional (CPSSP) certification.
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing Peer Support Services working in behavioral health programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery-oriented and person-centered practices.
  • Experience facilitating groups, training, or educational presentations preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a statewide team.
  • Background check required.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms.
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the assigned region, including occasional evening or weekend events.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned service region.
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 25 pounds for training and events.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and present for extended periods during meetings and training.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
