POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Illness Management and Recovery Program Coordinator
COMPENSATION: Part time (may be contract) – Hours are variable, averaging approximately 40-50 hours per biweekly pay period; hourly rate commensurate with training and experience
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
This is a responsible professional position responsible for coordinating the Illness Management and Recovery (IMR) Program according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) evidence-based practice manuals and guidelines and program requirements of Carastar Health, Position will undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks to help individuals with mental health conditions set recovery goals, learn skills to manage their illness, and make informed recovery decisions. Tasks will include providing psychoeducation, teaching illness self-management and recovery strategies, supporting goal attainment, advocating for clients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, collecting evaluation data, maintaining accurate client records, and assuring the program meets and is compliant with the IMR Fidelity Standards. This position will help in planning and organizing weekly meetings and activities as well as carrying out important operational duties, including compliance of the program with SAMHSA subaward requirements. This person must be organized and detail-oriented, compassionate, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with diverse teams. The goal will be to facilitate the effective coordination and implementation of this program and to meet the standards set by the IMR team. This part-time position is funded by a SAMHSA grant to Carastar Health for Assisted Outpatient Treatment, through a subaward to Mental Health America in Montgomery from Carastar Health for provision of IMR services.
Responsibilities
- Ensure implementation of policies and practices and maintain accurate, up-to-date records and ensure all services comply with IMR Fidelity Standards
- Maintain a compassionate, client-centered approach that promotes recovery, self-determination and hope
- Coordinate participant care and serve as a liaison between the client and a multidisciplinary treatment team, which may include psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers
- Advocate for participants and help them connect with necessary community supports and resources
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team; help build positive relations within the team and with external parties
- Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda
- Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.)
- Prepare paperwork and order material
- Keep current program records and create reports or proposals
- Participate in required program training
- Support growth and program development
- Carry out administrative tasks related to the IMR program as needed
- Collect required evaluation data and submit to the grant evaluator and/or develop evaluation reports as requested by the AOT grant.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Understanding the IMR curriculum and its modules is crucial for effective service delivery
- Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position
- Ability to teach, motivate, and build rapport with participants, as well as facilitate groups
- Knowledge of program management and development procedures
- Familiarity with local and state resources to help participants navigate and access support
- Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to maintain accurate and complete files, records, and report measurable outcomes and deliverables
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented and efficient
- BA in social work or another human services field. Lived experience is a plus
