What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hskpg. Supervisor position at Mennonite Friendship Communities?
Mennonite Friendship Communities (mfc) is a senior living community sponsored by congregations from the Anabaptist/Mennonite tradition of faith in the greater South Hutchinson area. ROLE: Responsible for assisting with management of all housekeeping and laundry duties campus wide. Ensures that the entire facility is clean in accordance with the standards held by mfc.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervisory
- Assists with development and review of department policies and procedures and ensures staff is abiding by them.
- Assists with development of department budget.
- Assists with supervisory functions for the department including interviewing, hiring decisions, scheduling, evaluations, disciplinary actions and approving attendance and requests for leave.
- Orientates and trains staff regarding all aspects of department guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Ensures that staffing is adequate adjusts staffing and/or work assignments as necessary.
Routine Housekeeping
- Ensures overall cleanliness of all manor buildings, rooms, offices, etc by coordinating housekeeping services on campus.
- Cleans public entry doors and windows at least regularly.
- Performs housekeeping and laundry duties as needed
- Buff and wax all resident rooms, Hobby Room, Beauty Shops, etc as needed.
- Responsible for moving residents from one room to another.
Recordkeeping/Communication
- Coordinates infection control with clinical management staff.
- Meets regularly with Executive Director to communicate concerns or employee issues in the housekeeping or laundry departments.
- Advises supervisor of equipment that is in need of repair or replacement.
- Orders supplies for housekeeping and laundry departments.
Safety
- Ensures water temperatures in various locations to ensure the water is at the correct temperature.
- Operates the housekeeping and floor care equipment and chemicals appropriately.
- Operates laundry equipment and chemicals appropriately.
- Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS) to ensure correct handling and storage of cleaning supplies and proper precautions for safety for staff and residents.
- Observes proper waste disposal procedures for regular waste and bio-hazardous waste.
- Safely operates mfc vehicles, including yard equipment, maintenance carts, maintenance trucks, etc. when picking up supplies or performing tasks around campus.
Other Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Six months of related experience is preferred.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills: Enthusiasm, courtesy, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work well with others to achieve desired outcomes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, and bending, as well as frequently lifting up to 30 pounds.
