TECHNOLOGY AIDE
DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Director of Technology, provides support and assistance to district technology users. Promotes the District Technology Plan by facilitating the use of appropriate technologies in classrooms, labs, and offices. Maintains computer equipment and peripherals. Conducts training for students and staff. Assists in the development of site and classroom websites.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES Perform repairs to the module level, on various computer workstations and peripherals. Conduct work at vaious sites within the district. Maintain database of service responses. Perform preventive maintenance to assure equipment is in proper operating condition; dispose of obsolete equipment according to established guidelines. Provide basic instruction to District personnel and students in the operation of assigned equipment; provide network support as needed; train and provide work direction and guidance to others as assigned. Maintain complete inventory and related records for assigned equipment; maintain inventory of loaner equipment; monitor inventory stocks; order repair parts as needed. Make and install various types of cables, with connectors, for equipment interconnections and networking systems; setup and installation for proper operation. Maintain current knowledge of computer repair technology. Perform related duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of: Computer workstations and network systems; hardware and software configurations; computer operating systems; basic network management; inventory and documentation practices; network cabling; organizational skills; general technical terminology; basic arithmetic; general needs and behavior patterns of students. Ability to: Learn and effectively use hardware and software specific to District needs; train or assist in providing training to end users; trobleshoot hardware, software and basic network problems; work independently with minimum supervision; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; project a mature, constructive, stable and healthy attitude in a learning environment; read and comprehend reading materials proficiently; learn pertinent procedures and functions quickly and apply them without close and immediate supervision; understand the basic concepts of child growth and development and possess a genuine liking for students. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school and one year PC hardware and/or software experience in a network environment. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Valid California Driver's License. A and/or MOUS certification preferred. WORK CONDITIONS ENVIRONMENT - Indoors - office, classroom and/or computer lab. HAZARD - Working at heights PHYSICAL ABILITIES Visual ability to read hand written or typed documents and instructions; able to conduct verbal conversation in English; able to hear normal range verbal conversation (approximately 60 decibels); able to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, bend, and walk; able to climb slopes, stairs, steps, ramps, and ladders; able to lift up to ten (10) pounds frequently, and fifty (50) pounds occasionally; able to carry up to ten (10) pounds frequently, and fifty (50) pounds occasionally; able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder external rotation and internal rotation; able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder abduction and adduction; able to exhibit full range for elbow flexion and extension; able to exhibit full range of motion for shoulder extension and flexion; able to exhibit full range of motion for back lateral flexion; able to exhibit full range of motion for hip flexion and extension; able to exhibit full range of motion for knee flexion; able to work at vaious elevated heights in a safe and effective manner; able to work in restricted spaces in a safe and effective manner; able to demonstrate manual dexterity necessary to perform fine maintenance procedures and operate both manual and power hand tools in a safe and effective manner; able to operate office machines and equipment in a safe and effective manner; able to operate a motor vehicle in a safe and effective manner.
