What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architect Studio Manager/Production Lead position at Mendil + Meyer Design Studio?
Location: Scottsdale, AZ
Firm: Mendil Meyer - Architecture & Design Studio
Future Opportunity: Path to Equity Partnership
Mendil Meyer is a boutique architecture and interior design studio specializing in wellness, hospitality, and intentional living. Founded on the belief that great design has the power to elevate the human experience, our work bridges story, strategy, and spatial design to create environments that feel both visionary and grounded.
We are seeking a driven and highly capable Studio Manager / Production Lead to take the operational reins of Mendil Meyer, ensuring projects are delivered with precision, clarity, and care, while freeing the founders to focus on early-stage concept development and new initiatives.
This is a rare opportunity for a technically strong, strategically minded architect or designer to step into a leadership position with real ownership potential.
You’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the studio, not from a distance, but from the center of the work. Your focus will be project delivery: ensuring our design intent translates into flawless documentation, coordination, and execution. You’ll lead production across all phases (SD–CD), manage workload and resources, and cultivate a culture of accountability and excellence.
As Brian Chesky (Airbnb) recently noted, great leaders aren’t just “people managers”, they’re craft leaders who lead through the work itself. That’s exactly who we’re looking for.
- Oversee the daily operations of the Mendil Meyer studio, ensuring clarity across project schedules, deliverables, and budgets.
- Lead architectural and interior design production across all active projects.
- Manage project resourcing and workflow for the team (in-house and external collaborators).
- Maintain quality control and consistency in drawing standards, documentation, and consultant coordination.
- Implement efficient systems and processes to improve project delivery and profitability.
- Support founders by translating conceptual design into actionable deliverables.
- Serve as a mentor and leader, developing the team’s skills, confidence, and accountability.
- Participate in business planning and growth strategy discussions, with a clear pathway to partnership for the right individual.
- Licensed Architect (or on path) or experienced Senior Designer/Project Manager with deep technical knowledge and leadership experience.
- 8–15 years of experience in a medium to large architecture or design studio, with a hospitality and/or commercial focus.
- Expert in Revit and project management software.
- Strong understanding of construction documents, detailing, and consultant coordination.
- Systems-oriented mindset with the ability to create order out of complexity.
- Entrepreneurial spirit who thrives in a creative, evolving, fast-paced environment.
- Deep respect for craft, precision, and purpose.
- Emotionally intelligent leader who builds trust through follow-through and accountability.
- Lead the operational heart of a purpose-driven architecture and design studio.
- Collaborate directly with founders on inspiring, intentional projects.
- Help shape the systems, team, and delivery model of a growing firm.
- Work in a culture that values creativity, humanity, and evolution.
- Long-term opportunity for equity and shared ownership, to grow with the firm, not just for it.
