Key Responsibilities
The Janitor is responsible for
Maintaining a clean and therapeutic environment for Mended Reeds staff and clients.
Knowledge, Competencies, and Abilities
- Applicants must be able to perform a variety of cleaning activities as well emptying the trash into the agency dumpster. Must be capable of lifting 30 lbs. from the floor (ex: box of copier paper).
Detailed Duties & Physical Demands
- Embraces Mended Reeds’ culture of compliance—operates with high integrity and complies with work standards and regulatory requirements.
- Empty Trash in all restrooms and common areas of Narnia/IOP/4th St building and Mental Health.
- Tend to items near the side entrance of the Mental Health area, removing any trash or empty boxes stacked near the side entrance or in front of the receptionist’s storeroom. If there are UPS deliveries (such as medical supplies) near the entrance, will deliver such boxes/parcels with direction from the receptionist.
- Regarding the Medical Department, ask the medical receptionist for entrance through the back door to remove all trash in the back hall and gain access to clean the restrooms.
- When cleaning restrooms, clean and disinfect the toilet, clean sink area and spot mop the floor, if necessary, as well as emptying the trash.
- Wipe down tables and vacuum/tidy up IOP common areas (including group rooms).
- Clean up any trash/litter around the exterior of the building or parking areas.
- Other duties assigned.
Performance Appraisals and Goals
At least annually, the Part-time Janitor shall be appraised by the supervisor in the following areas:
- Performance
- Reliability
- Attention to detail
- Cleanliness of locations
- Self-motivation
Work Environment & Availability:
Up to 8 hours per week (2 nights per week) following the last meeting in NARNIA/IOP.
If approved, additional hours may be scheduled when janitors are scheduled off or have an unexpected call-off of their 6-hour shift.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience Preferred
- Education: High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must pass all Mended Reeds, state, and accreditation screenings, including a drug screen and BCI/FBI background check.
- Must not appear on applicable exclusion or suspension lists (i.e., OIG, SAM, ODM).
