Purpose and Scope
The MIS Data Specialist assists in the management of student and teacher records and reports for the Department of College Career, Technical and Education. Communicates and interacts with current and prospective students, teachers, administrators and staff in resolving inquiries, complaints or problems related to data reporting, including participation in planning of district wide training and informational meetings and activities.
Essential Job Functions
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Education or other related area plus two (2) years of related work experience in computer operations, database management, student management software, report writing, or network experience; OR an equivalent combination of education/experience totaling six (6) years. Demonstrated successful project management experience in a public-school setting preferred. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED).
Degree Equivalency Formula
Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.
Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.

Essential Job Functions
- Works under the supervision of the Research and Analytics Manager.
- Responsible for maintaining student-related data and preparing reports as needed.
- Research, compile data for, and prepare various statistical, administrative and/or financial reports as required.
- Participates in special projects as requested and manages special projects/reports as assigned.
- Assists in producing, analyzing, and submitting of district-wide CCTE reporting requirements in the areas of Management Information System - annual and semi-annual, Twenty-day Attendance, End of Year, Safety, Office of Civil Rights, Follow-up Participants, Completers and Concentrators and CCTE student graduation Cohort.
- Assists in supporting and planning design modifications and upgrades; analyze and optimize database performance, identify trends, propose alternatives, and recommend solutions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
