The Director of Employee Relations is a senior executive responsible for managing and overseeing the employee relations functions within the Office of Talent Management. This role involves developing and implementing policies and programs to ensure a positive work environment, resolving employee conflicts, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

  • Develop and implement employee engagement initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Provides advice, support and assistance by interpreting policies and procedures and by counseling the principals, managers, directors, and other employees on employment, harassment, grievances and other personnel matters and procedures.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of a variety of narrative and statistical reports, records, correspondence, and files related to assigned services, activities, and operations; provides appropriate research and compiles reports to support the district.
  • Collaborates with principals and managers to identify possible non-renewal candidates and actively monitors and participates in the non-renewal process.
  • Investigates and resolves employment related complaints and grievances to ensure proper policies and/or MOU language are adhered to.
  • Manages and analyzes requests for fit for duty.
  • Conducts employee mediations to resolve employee related conflicts to ensure a harmonious work environment.
  • Provides routine training for principals, supervisors, and administrators on the progressive discipline process, policy adherence, and MOU language.
  • Attends collaborative conferencing.
  • Provide regular reports and insights to senior leadership on employee relations metrics and trends.
  • Oversees the complaint and grievance process to ensure the appropriate appeal steps are followed in accordance with Board Policy and/or MOU.
  • Responsible for administration of employee disciplinary hearings and actions due to documentation submitted by principals, administrators, managers, and;
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resource, Labor, Education or other related field plus an additional 7 years related experience, or equivalent, for a total education/experience of 13 years. Juris Doctorate, Ph.D, or Ed.D preferred. Must have at least 5 years of management/supervision experience. Investigation, Negotiation, Leadership and/or Change Management experience preferred. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Degree Equivalency Formula

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree=6 years plus required years of experience.
