The Opportunity
The Memphis Grizzlies are looking for a Sr Graphic Designer who will play a key role in shaping the visual identity of the Memphis Grizzlies brands, with a primary focus on Grizzlies and Grind City Media followed by Memphis Hustle and FedExForum. This role will serve as a dedicated resource for digital graphic design, with a major emphasis on creating on trend, dynamic, platform-optimized content for social media. The Sr Graphic Designer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including marketing, social media, content, and production to conceptualize and deliver compelling visuals that elevate the brand narrative and engage diverse audiences. The ideal candidate possesses a strong design portfolio, deep understanding of sports culture and trends, and the ability to translate strategic objectives into bold, innovative creative solutions. With a passion for storytelling, and a keen eye for detail, the Sr Graphic Designer will help drive consistency, creativity, and excellence across all visual touchpoints.
The Experience You Will Bring
In This Role You Will:
• Design and produce a high volume of cross-platform creative assets, including digital, in-arena, broadcast, print and other executions.• Serve as a dedicated design resource for the social media team, creating visually compelling graphics that can be used in static for or come to life via motion, tailored to social platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, etc). • Collaborate with social strategists to concept and ideate content that aligns with brand voice, audience engagement goals and current trends.• Execute creative projects with precision and consistency, following direction from the Manager of Creative Services and aligning with brand standards.• Provide design support across departments, including marketing, ticketing, partnerships, community and basketball operations.• Uphold and apply brand guidelines across Memphis Grizzlies, Grind City Media, Memphis Hustle and FedExForum properties.• Design logos, graphics, maps and illustrative artwork with strong photo manipulation skills.• Communicate effectively with internal clients and vendors throughout the creative process.• Contribute to ideation and collaboration sessions.• Assist with maintaining design assets, including photography, identity files and archival materials in accordance with team guidelines.• Work with the Director and Manager of Creative services to contribute to creative brainstorming sessions and help shape the visual direction of campaigns and initiatives.• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
• 5 years of hands-on experience in graphic and motion design, preferably in sports, entertainment, or agency settings.• Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, and After Effects.• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.• Experience creating and continuing campaign concepts. • Strong layout, typography, and typesetting skills.• Excellent grammar, spelling, proofreading, and writing abilities.• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-energy environment.• Strong organizational, attention to detail and time management skills.• Passion for sports and entertainment, with a deep understanding of visual storytelling.• Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset.• Availability to work nights and weekends as a part of the job.
Nice to Have:
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication, or related field—or equivalent professional experience.• Motion design skills and experience creating animated assets for social or broadcast.• Experience with Daktronics scripting via Ross Dashboard and Show Control systems.• Photography, editing and photo management skills.• Knowledge and enthusiasm for NBA basketball and esports culture.
