The Memphis Grizzlies are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented part-time Paralegal to join our Legal department. This role provides critical support to our General Counsel and other departments, by assisting with contract management, compliance, and documentation. The successful candidate will gain exposure to legal operations within the sports and entertainment industry while ensuring accuracy and compliance across multiple business functions.
In This Role You Will:
- Collaborate with internal teams on cross-functional projects related to contracts, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Review, draft, and organize vendor agreements, service contracts, event-related documents, and corporate governance documents.
- Conduct legal research, prepare memos, and summarize findings for internal stakeholders.
- Assist with discovery, including reviewing documents and preparing summaries.
- Maintain and organize legal files (digital and physical) to ensure proper structure and accessibility.
- Track contract deadlines, renewals, and compliance requirements.
- Support proactive internal communications and attend meetings on behalf of the department.
- Provide administrative support such as scheduling, document uploads, and file audits.
- Other duties as assigned. Duties and responsibilities may change or expand as organizational needs evolve.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant, preferably in a sports/live entertainment industry, marketing, or PR firm.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with legal research tools (LexisNexis, WestLaw) preferred.
- Proven flexibility, initiative, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during events (note that part-time team members may work up to 25 hours/week).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing documents and working on a computer.
- Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 lbs. (e.g., moving files or boxes).
- Manual dexterity for handling paper files and operating office equipment.
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of sports and entertainment, specifically NBA basketball.
