Position Summary
The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant performs basic patient care tasks as a cooperative member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, in the Recovery Room Services nursing unit at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. He/she reports at all times to a supervising nurse. This position also indirectly supports patient care by providing clerical support to the unit as assigned. The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant facilitates a safe, clean working environment for all patients, visitors, and staff.

- Performs activities as identified on Perioperative Patient Care Assistant competency checklist while maintaining patient safety, comfort, and privacy
- Participates as a member of the health care team.
- Respects patient confidentiality at all times.
- Consistently applies infection control policies and procedures.
- Maintains a safe, clean and healthful environment.
- Attends department specific staff meetings, in-services, education and training.
- Participates in selected department specific Performance Improvement Projects.
- Demonstrates skills consistent with standards of practice and Departmental
- Policies and Procedures.
- Participates in orientation of new staff as assigned.
- Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
