What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Coach position at Memorial Medical Center?
Schedule: this is a .4 FTE role that will work two, 8-hour shifts/week.

How you’ll contribute
- Assists with de-escalation when needed. Employs appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as required and according to policy and procedure.
- Completes 15-minute checks, monitors for contraband, evaluates for change in condition, and provides line of sight or one on one care as directed.
- Interfaces with patients, families, community resources, and treatment team members and performs case management duties to link to care and completes discharge planning documentation. Identifies and engages with patients/families during program to identify barriers and encourage continued involvement throughout full continuum of care.
- Accompanies patients to off-unit activities, i.e., meals, outside breaks, off-unit visits, etc.
- Reports medical or psychiatric changes to the treatment team. Provides pertinent feedback to the interdisciplinary treatment team regarding patient response to treatment interventions that assists in the development and revision of the treatment plan.
- Maintains documentation on all patients enrolled in program and charts all communication with and about patient care in patient chart, per policy.
- Complies with the established policy and procedure requiring a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
- Encourages or assists patients to engage in treatment programming,
- Facilitates or co-facilitates psychoeducational and peer support groups effectively, using established guidelines and/or prepared and approved information.
- Maintains current knowledge of the program and protocol (policy and procedures) guidelines.
- Aids in orienting and precepting new staff members to their position. Trains staff on peer support specialist model as it applies to the Recovery Coach role at facility.
- Complies with hospital policy, OSHA, and CDC guidelines regarding the collection of various specimens.
- Employs principles of communication, interviewing techniques, problem-solving and crisis intervention when performing psychotherapeutic interventions based on plan of care.

What we’re looking for
Applicants should have experience working with individuals with psychiatric/chemical dependency diagnoses. Additional requirements include:
Education: High school diploma
Experience: Minimum of 2 years in recovery from a substance use and/or mental health disorder
License: Valid driver’s license
Additional Requirements: CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Training (CPI) within 30 days of employment and prior to any patient contact. Peer Support Specialist Certification must be completed and obtained within one year from date of hire as Recovery Coach.
