What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Lab Scientist position at Memorial Medical Center?
A Clinical Lab Scientist who excels in this role:
Follows standardized procedures and helps prepare samples for testing.
Operates laboratory equipment in a high-quality, effective manner.
Analyzes test results for accuracy, acceptability, and critical limits, and reports/documents results per organizational standards.
Performs automated tests using computerized instruments & automated equipment and reports them to the patient, physician or registered nurse.
Performs Quality Assurance work to ensure accuracy of equipment.
Performs and determines accuracy of technical lab procedures.
Maintains records of procedures performed, the patient results and the quality control required for all procedures performed. Maintains accurate and complete records of all quality control tests completed.
Assures that all out-of-control procedures are followed and that there is documentation of remedial actions taken.
Performs all preventive maintenance of laboratory instrumentation, as assigned. Reads and understands all procedure manuals on an annual basis.
Collects biological specimens. Prepares and forwards biological specimens to appropriate reference laboratory according to departmental procedures.
Provides instruction to students/new employees about procedures and departmental policies.
Checks available supplies and reports deficiencies to supervisor in a timely manner.

What we’re looking for
Applicants should have a bachelors degree in Clinical Lab Sciences or equivalent. Additional requirements include:
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or eligibility required.
