A Day in the Life of a Nursing Practice Expert:Works under general direction of the appropriate Nursing Director. Utilizes Evidence Based nursing practice (EBNP) to influence clinical nursing practice throughout the healthcare system. Based on current EBNP Evaluate areas of need, at the unit and system level. Serves as a role model for quality nursing care and exemplary professional practice. Guides nursing staff to assure safe, quality nursing care. Involved in shaping the larger healthcare system. Participates and collaborates with department and hospital committees to drive quality patient outcomes.Helps to maximize staff’s proficiency with critical thinking and problem solving.Assists and guides the nursing peer review process. Fosters a climate of learning and professional growth with nurses.Utilizes research and evidence-based practices to bring about systemic changes thus, improving quality patient care. Collaborates with experts in nursing research to analyze research findings for potential application in clinical practice and participate in research were identified to enhance practice.Participates in policy review to evaluate system changes ensuring they align with best practice. Participates and collaborates with the clinical education team as need to ensure staff are educated as new process and procedures are changed. Collaborates with the Nurse Residency Director, unit educators, and the lead for the new employee experience to ensure that training is updated and reflect evidence supported practices. Supports the new nurse onboarding process (to include Clinical NEE, Residency, and unit orientation) to ensure continuity of orientation and promotion of nursing standards.
