A Day in the Life a Clinical Quality Analyst:

The Clinical Quality Analyst works under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and in cooperation with the Director of Medical Staff Services, coordinates the medical staff Quality and Peer review functions. The Clinical Quality Analyst is responsible for analyzing and reporting variations of standard care; works closely with the CMO, Medical Staff Services, physician members of the Peer and Quality Review Committee, and practitioners on the Medical Staff.

Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

  • Assesses patient care for all Practitioners by accurately reviewing patient records for appropriateness of treatment in relation to practitioner standards and approved medical staff/Peer and Quality review criteria.
  • Participates in clinical quality and patient safety improvement projects to include, but not limited to, failure, mode, effect, and analysis or root cause analysis (FMEAs or RCAs) and/or other clinical quality and patient safety improvement efforts that support the culture of patient safety as needed.
  • Coordinates the Peer Review Process for Medical Staff by working closely with CMO and the Director of Medical Staff Services to receive referrals, run reports, analyze trends and events, and ensure review and follow-up in conjunction with database management.
  • Monitors clinical data results identifing opportunities for improvement either departmentally or organizationally related to clinical quality or patient safety priorities for medical staff committees/departments as needed.
  • Coordinates Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) by working closely with the CMO, Medical Staff Services, Medical Staff Department Chairs, and Data Management.
  • Coordinates the Occurrence Review Process for Medical Staff by working closely with the CMO, Director of Medical Staff Services and Risk Management to receive referrals, run reports, analyzes trends and events, and ensures review and follow-up.
  • Analyzes, reports, and communicates with practitioners reported clinical quality data by working closely with the CMO and Data Management in conjunction with database management.

Desired Skills:

  • Comfortable and skilled at communicating individual chart findings as well as aggregate reports to physicians, health care providers and other stakeholders in the organization. Capable of gaining credibility with providers through experience, presentation, communication skills, and empathy
  • Analytical skills including a working knowledge of basic statistics and statistical analysis methodologies
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of PC-based computer software i.e. Word, Excel, Access and/or similar systems
  • Ability to work independently and interdependently
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Broad knowledge and familiarity with healthcare-related regulatory and accreditation agencies and requirements
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to multi-task is essential

Here Is What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinically related healthcare field
  • Minimum of five (5) years health care experience including recent hospital experience
  • Experience in quality management, project management, and performance improvement methodologies, including PDSA, Lean or Six Sigma

Nice To Have:

  • Master’s degree in appropriately related field
  • Current CPHQ certification
