The Materials Management Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving, unpacking, inspecting, and distributing medical supplies and equipment in a timely and accurate manner to support hospital operations and patient care. This position works closely with the Supply Chain Team, buyers, vendors, and clinical departments to ensure accuracy in shipments, proper inventory flow, and compliance with hospital safety standards.
- High School Diploma required.
- Previous experience in healthcare or materials management preferred.
- Experience with Healthcare Materials Management Information System preferred.
- Proficient in MS Office applications which include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
1. Receive, unpack, and inspect all incoming shipments for accuracy and damage.
2. Verify quantities and product specifications against purchase orders.
3. Document and report damaged or incorrect items to the appropriate buyer for resolution.
4. Track, log, and reconcile received items into the inventory system.
5. Cycle backstock inventory into stocking supply and monitor expiration dates in central supply.
6. Deliver supplies, equipment, and specialty items to appropriate departments within 24 hours of receiving.
7. Work with the Supply Chain Team to ensure proper stocking and inventory accuracy.
8. Prioritize and expedite urgent deliveries as needed.
9. Investigate and resolve backorder issues in coordination with buyers.
10. Communicate discrepancies or missing shipments to Senior buyer and Junior Buyer.
11. Assist with coordinating returns or replacements for incorrect or damaged goods.
12. Work with vendors and couriers to resolve delivery concerns.
13. Maintain a clean and organized receiving area.
14. Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits as directed.
15. Follow hospital safety protocols and compliance standards for handling medical supplies.
16. Identify opportunities to improve receiving and distribution workflows.
17. Behave and dress in a professional and courteous manner consistent with the facilities Standards of Behavior.
18. Other duties may be assigned.
