1.Provide direct patient care within scope, including rooming patients, obtaining and documenting vital signs, chief complaint, pain level, allergies, medication lists, and relevant histories, and promptly reporting abnormal findings to the provider.
2.Prepare patients for exams and minor procedures by assisting with gowning, positioning, and ensuring appropriate supplies, instruments, and equipment are available and functioning.
3.Assist providers with examinations and in-office procedures (e.g., wound care, EKGs, specimen collection, basic dressings) while maintaining patient comfort, privacy, and safety.
4.Perform ordered point-of-care tests (e.g., blood glucose, rapid strep, urinalysis) and specimen collection/labeling for laboratory processing, following proper infection prevention and chain-of-custody procedures.
5.Administer medications and immunizations as delegated and allowed by policy, including correct preparation, verification of patient identity and allergies, documentation of lot/expiration, and appropriate observation for adverse reactions.
6.Provide basic patient education and instructions as directed by the provider, reinforcing treatment plans, follow-up care, and use of medications, and ensuring patient understanding.
7.Support clinic access and patient flow by scheduling follow-up appointments, coordinating referrals, managing messages, and assisting with patient check-in/check-out processes as assigned.
8.Document all care, procedures, tests, medications, and patient interactions accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR) following clinic and regulatory documentation standards.
9.Maintain a safe, clean, organized clinical environment, including room turnover between patients, equipment cleaning/disinfection, inventory management, and restocking exam rooms and supply areas.
10.Demonstrate and maintain compliance with all safety protocols, infection prevention measures, and exposure control plans, including appropriate use of PPE, hand hygiene, and participation in required safety and competency training.
11.Participate in quality improvement activities, including data collection, adherence to clinical protocols, and implementation of workflow changes to support clinic performance goals.
12.Protect patient privacy and confidentiality at all times in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policy.
