Job Summary
This position has primary responsibility for preparing tissue specimens for gross, frozen, and permanent microscopic examination utilizing a variety of stains and equipment.
Qualifications
Must have an understanding of Histology, Anatomy, and Immunohistochemical procedures. Must be familiar with and follow all safety procedures. Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to access the data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to the patient's age, specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
Must meet one of the following:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree and must be eligible by ASCP as an HT or HTL within 18 months. Proof of education will be required. This proof will be in the form of an authenticated copy of an original diploma or transcripts. Transcripts may be required if further definition of a degree is needed. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations. This position is a training status position and requires educational and certification requirements to transition into a Histology Technician ll within 24 months of Histology Technician l start (effective) date.
