What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager- Patient Registration - Days- FT - Biloxi Location position at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport?
Manages the Patient Registration Department including Patient Access Representatives, Team Leaders, Room Control Representatives and Financial Counselors. Evaluates the work method and process for maximum efficiency and effectively coordinates activities with other department managerial staff. Responsible for the department budget, personnel, and staffing of the department and the physical maintenance of equipment and the department area.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business or Electronic Data Systems, or Hospital Administration or 5 years of hospital experience in a supervisory and/or training role directly engaged in the hospital registration process.
Experience:
- Five or more years in a hospital or other healthcare setting in the areas of admissions and/or billing, with an emphasis on payer compliance and customer service experience and knowledge of I-IPAA and EMTALA compliance. In a hospital or other healthcare setting in the areas of admissions and/or billing, with an emphasis on payer compliance and customer service experience and knowledge of HIPAA and EMTALA compliance.
- Hospital experience in registration and admissions in an acute care setting with three or more years in a management or supervisory role; HBOC/STAR data system knowledge and usage within the past two years.
Skills:
- Competency in team building skills with accountability to those teams.
- Ability to effect change by assuming leadership roles in interdisciplinary teams and supporting the growth and development of team leaders and department personnel. Ability to communicate and collaborate with physicians, staff, community and payers to meet patient access needs and hospital financial needs.
- Ability to use personal computer (word processing and spreadsheet) if required.
- Ability to use Microsoft: Word, Excel, Access, Windows, and GroupWise.
- Basic knowledge of admitting procedures, insurance coverage, billing requirements, collections, government and/or agency requirements, and contract management analysis, interpretation and front end maintenance and compliance by each payors criteria for services.
