Summary
Performs magnetic resonance imaging in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.
Responsibilities
Charges appropriately for all supplies used for procedures.When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.Performs Quality Assurance Testing on Imaging and related equipment.Precepts students or new hires.Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.Performs independently core MR Protocols, complex Neuro cases and anesthesia cases.Provides feedback as a Peer for Performance Evaluations.Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.Serves as a Resource for staff members in partnership with the clinical educator.

Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Competent in: Contrast Enhanced MRA Neuro & CSF Flow, Contrast Enhanced body MRA, WARP and Metal Reduction Protocols, MRI Perfusion, MR Conditional Device Screening, and MRI Reconstruction (MIPS, MPRS).Specific to sites with breast MRI services - MRI Guided Biopsies Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of MRI Technologist experience. Other Information: Registered as a Technologist (RT), (RTT) or (NMTCB) and registered in magnetic resonance imaging (MR) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Registered as a Technologist (ARMRIT) - Advance Registry MRI Technologist.
