Job Description: Staff Accountant
The Staff Accountant will report directly to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) / Assistant Controller. The main responsibility of the Staff Accountant is to assist the Controller with various accounting tasks. These tasks include preparing financial statements, evaluating budgets, monitoring accounts payable and accounts receivable, tracking information pertaining to company assets and income. To ensure that accounting processes used within the company meet state and federal regulations.
Staff Accountant should be experienced in all aspects of financial management, including partnership and corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as development of internal control policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates with Accounting Supervisor who managers all accounting operations including Billing, A/R, A/P
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of regulatory reporting including annual and periodic program review audits
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance and CFO as needed
- Support month-end and year-end close process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
- Generate internal financial reports for the company. This would include assisting with creating monthly financial statements and other accounting reconciliations.
- Ensuring that companies pay and that all company expenses are paid in a timely manner.
- Helps maintain accountability of the financial resources of the company.
- Ensures compliance with all internal controls.
- Handles special projects as requested by CFO and/or Ownership.
- Assists in safeguarding the assets of Company and the Owners best interest while considering overall profit of the company.
- Month End Closing responsibilities
- Drive business goals, such as cost reduction initiatives, improvements in working capital and capital expenditure management.

Requirements
- Strong mathematical, skills are a must
- Detail-oriented and be able to meet deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related years of experience.
- 3 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Wide range of experience and thorough knowledge of Financial and accounting operations procedures, financial control and audits coordination
- Understanding and staying current with governmental regulations and reporting requirements and well as industry news.
- Experience with financial statement preparation for all types of legal entities
- Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process
- Experience in preparing and review payroll and sales tax filings
- In-depth knowledge of Excel creating detailed, complex spreadsheets
- Strong attention to detail and follow-up
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Experience with various accounting software administration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- High level of accuracy in daily work and other projects.
- Ability to meet communicated schedules and deadlines.
- Adherence to policies, procedures and instructions
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement
- Follow directions thoroughly

Work Environment
- Full Time position with normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some additional time may be expected according to work flow and project completion deadlines.
- Spends time in a climate controlled office setting looking a computer screens and keyboarding.
- May be required to attend budget meetings and other financial meetings on a regular basis.
Physical Requirements:
- Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing 15 lbs. without assistance.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
- Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time or for an entire work shift.
- Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Remain in stationary position for extended periods of time.
