Job Summary
The Financial Services Associate I (FSA I) is an entry-level position within the credit union's retail branch operations. This role serves as the foundation of member-facing service, focusing on accurate transaction processing, basic account servicing, and delivering positive member experiences. FSA I’s work under close supervision and are provided structured guidance to build proficiency in credit union products, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Member Transactions & Service
- Processes member financial transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and check cashing.
- Counts, checks, and packages coins and currency in accordance with established procedures.
- Responds to routine member inquiries in a friendly, professional manner; escalates non-routine or complex issues to a supervisor.
- Assists members with basic account inquiries and refers members to appropriate staff for more complex needs.
- Promotes and explains credit union products and services that align with member needs.
Cash Handling
- Maintains a balanced cash drawer throughout the day; follows all balancing procedures at end of shift.
- Alerts supervisor promptly to any cash discrepancies or out-of-balance conditions.
- Handles negotiable instruments (money orders, cashier's checks) according to credit union policy.
Account Servicing
- Assists members with opening basic personal accounts under direct supervision.
- Gathers and verifies required documentation for account and service requests.
- Assists with basic consumer loan inquiries and directs members to appropriate staff for application processing.
Compliance & Procedures
- Follows all credit union policies, security procedures, and regulatory requirements governing teller and FSA operations.
- Maintains awareness of applicable State and Federal Regulations; completes required compliance training.
- Ensures all member and employee information is kept in the strictest confidence.
Additional Duties
- Participates in branch and departmental training sessions and organizational meetings.
- Represents the credit union at community and business-related events as needed.
- Travels between branch offices occasionally as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required. 1 year of teller, cash handling, or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products; ability to learn and navigate core banking systems and office equipment.
- Ability to read and follow operating instructions, procedures, and policy documents. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally with members and staff.
- Ability to accurately perform arithmetic operations including whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to make change and balance a cash drawer.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions and apply standard procedures to routine, day-to-day situations.
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
