About Meltdown Creamery
Meltdown Creamery is a mobile artisan ice cream business serving weddings, corporate events, and festivals across the Detroit metro area. We operate an ice cream truck, food trailer, and portable carts, crafting small-batch ice cream made with real ingredients. We're looking for a reliable, energetic team member to help run operations during our busy season.
What you'll do
- Drive and operate a mid-size commercial step van (no CDL required) to events throughout the greater Detroit area
- Set up and break down service equipment, including transporting and positioning a commercial ice cream freezer (up to 250 lbs with team assistance)
- Serve guests at events (weddings, corporate outings, and festivals) with a warm, professional demeanor
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards throughout service
- Assist with prepping and stocking product before events
- Represent the Meltdown Creamery brand with pride and enthusiasm
What we're looking for
- Driving experience: Comfortable operating step vans, trucks, large trailers, or vehicles with a similar footprint.
- Physical capability: Able to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment (50 lbs regularly; team lifts for heavier items). This is an active, hands-on role.
- Customer service: Previous experience in food service, hospitality, or a customer-facing role. You're friendly, composed under pressure, and represent the company well.
- Food safety awareness: Knowledge of safe food handling and sanitation practices.
- Reliability: Events are scheduled in advance and our clients depend on us. Punctuality and follow-through are essential.
- Clean driving record: Valid Michigan driver's license
Compensation & details
- $22-$26/hr depending on experience
- Seasonal position (25-35 hours per week, spring through fall)
- Schedule varies with events; evenings and weekends are common
- Opportunity to return the following season with a pay increase
