Position Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, dependable Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the groundskeeping and physical operations of Melrose Abbey Memorial Park. This role is perfect for a leader who isn't afraid to jump into the driver’s seat of a backhoe while simultaneously ensuring their team is executing the daily maintenance schedule to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Heavy Equipment Operation: Safely and skillfully operate a Backhoe and Loader for interments, landscaping projects, and general grounds maintenance.
- Irrigation Management: Oversee the installation, repair, and programming of the park’s irrigation systems to ensure lush, well-maintained grounds year-round.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a crew of 4–6 landscapers. You’ll be responsible for training, safety compliance, and quality control.
- Strategic Scheduling: Develop and implement comprehensive daily, weekly, and seasonal maintenance schedules to ensure all areas of the memorial park are pristine.
- Facility Oversight: Conduct regular inspections of the grounds and equipment to proactively address any maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3 years in commercial landscaping or grounds maintenance, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Cemetery specific experience preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Proven proficiency in operating heavy machinery (Backhoe/Loader),knowledge of commercial irrigation systems, and cemetery interment process.
- Leadership: Strong communication skills and the ability to motivate a diverse team.
- Mindset: A high level of professionalism and respect for the sensitive nature of the memorial park environment.
