Mello is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented, and organized Inventory Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, has strong organizational and analytical skills, and is committed to maintaining inventory accuracy and regulatory compliance.
As an Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for inventory control, product intake, inventory reconciliation, cycle counts, transfers, order fulfillment support, and maintaining compliance with all Cannabis Control Commission (CCC) and METRC requirements. This position plays a critical role in ensuring inventory accuracy and supporting daily retail and wholesale operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Receive, verify, and process incoming inventory shipments
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with inventory audits and reconciliations
- Maintain accurate inventory records in METRC, Dutchie, and other inventory management systems
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies in a timely manner
- Support product transfers, manifests, and chain-of-custody documentation
- Ensure inventory is properly stored, labeled, organized, and secured
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate inventory needs to management
- Assist with product fulfillment, order preparation, and inventory movement between departments
- Support end-of-month, year-end, and regulatory inventory audits
- Maintain inventory reports and documentation as required
- Follow all company SOPs, safety protocols, and compliance requirements
- Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and inspection-ready inventory environment
- Collaborate with retail, cultivation, manufacturing, compliance, and leadership teams as needed
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work accurately with large amounts of inventory data
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with computers and inventory management systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace preferred
- Experience with METRC, Dutchie, or cannabis inventory systems preferred
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with coworkers and management
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
- Commitment to compliance, accountability, and process improvement
Schedule & Availability Requirements
- Must be available to work a flexible schedule based on business needs
- Availability to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to work extended hours during inventory counts, audits, and special projects
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance are required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours per shift
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, squat, and lift throughout the workday
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in warehouse, retail, and inventory storage environments
- Ability to operate computers, scanners, inventory equipment, and other workplace technology
Additional Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission Agent Registration
- Must successfully complete all required onboarding, compliance, and inventory training
- Must comply with all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Cannabis industry experience is preferred but not required
