Senior Auditor
About the Role
Mellott & Mellott is seeking a Senior Auditor to lead audit engagements, supervise junior staff, and support clients across a variety of industries including closely held businesses, nonprofits, and high-net-worth individuals. This role is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional looking to grow within a collaborative and relationship-driven CPA firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute assigned audit areas in accordance with firm methodology and professional standards
- Review audit workpapers prepared by staff and interns for accuracy and completeness
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior audit team members
- Identify audit issues, perform analysis, and recommend solutions
- Communicate engagement progress, risks, and findings to audit management
- Coordinate client requests, walkthroughs, and engagement timelines
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and auditing standards
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure
- Public accounting audit experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and auditing standards
- Experience leading audit areas and supervising staff
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and audit software
Preferred
- Experience with mid-market or public company clients
- Experience with revenue recognition, leases, equity, and other complex accounting areas
Work Environment
- On-site role
- Up to 30% travel to client locations
