We're looking for a talented, dependable, and creative piano teacher to join our team and help us inspire students to discover their musical potential!
About the Role: As a Piano Teacher at Mello Music Studio, you'll work with students of all ages and skill levels, using innovative methods that incorporate play, movement, and interactive games to teach essential music concepts. From music theory and practice techniques to performance skills, your lessons will help students build a strong musical foundation while having a blast along the way. You’ll also guide them through recitals, NYSSMA events, and other musical milestones.
Key Responsibilities:
- Personalize Lessons: Tailor each lesson to the individual needs, age, and learning style of your students while keeping them engaged and excited to learn.
- Engage & Inspire: Use creative, interactive activities and games to teach music theory, sight-reading, improvisation, and technique.
- Set & Achieve Goals: Work with students to set clear goals and provide ongoing feedback to help them achieve musical milestones, including preparing for NYSSMA, recitals, and other events.
- Motivate & Support: Encourage students through challenges, celebrate their progress, and provide constructive feedback to help them stay motivated.
- Build Relationships: Connect with students on a personal level, making them feel seen, heard, and inspired to continue growing.
- Collaborate with Parents: Maintain open communication with parents about their child’s progress and areas for improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong piano skills and a passion for teaching.
- Previous teaching experience is a plus, especially with children and young beginners, ages 4-7.
- Fluent sight-reading ability.
- Patience, empathy, and exceptional communication skills.
- Strong motivational abilities to help students overcome challenges.
- Comfort working with students as young as 4 or 5.
- Ability to adapt lessons to suit individual strengths and areas for improvement.
- A Bachelor's degree in Music or equivalent experience is highly preferred, but not required.
- A lifelong learner mindset—always eager to improve and refine your teaching skills.
Job Hours & Location:
- Flexible schedule (1–2 days per week after school hours).
- Lessons are taught at a local church space in Troy.
