Responsibilities
- Assist optometrists in performing eye examinations and procedures.
- Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, color vision, and depth perception assessments.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient flow and provide exceptional customer service throughout their visit.
- Handle retail math for eyewear sales and assist patients in selecting frames and lenses.
- Process medical billing and insurance claims using systems like Epic.
- Educate patients on proper eye care practices and post-examination instructions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and equipment.
Experience
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar healthcare role is preferred.
- Knowledge of retail math, medical billing processes, and HIPAA compliance is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems.
- Strong understanding of anatomy related to the eye and ophthalmology practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and satisfaction.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
