ROLE OVERVIEW:
In this role, you will be a key leader within the Finance Team and the entire Melissa & Doug organization. You will lead all aspects of the company’s financial accounting operations and ensure all financial controls are in place. You will lead the transformation of our legacy financial processes and systems to a new upgraded cloud platform. This role will be based out of our Wilton, CT headquarters reporting directly to our Chief Financial Officer.
RESPONISBILITIES:
- Establish & maintain financial records in accordance with US GAAP
- Preparation of financial information, performance metrics and financial and management reporting for management and lenders
- Lead software and systems implementation and other departmental improvements targeting automation and driving a world-class controllers department
- Being a business partner to the organization helping evaluate growth opportunities
- Evaluate, assess, implement and maintain internal controls as well as assist in the development of consolidated accounting policies and procedures
- Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
- Streamline the close and reporting process
- Lead technical accounting research and implementation
- Ensure timely and clean external audits and working with the external auditors (company and bank auditors) throughout the year to ensure an efficient audit process
- Manage the consolidation of the financial statements and analyze the results
- Manage bank covenants, bank reporting and asset-based lending audit
- Manage the treasury and insurance functions
- Manage the tax function including transfer pricing
- Develop, train and lead team members
- Perform other duties or special projects as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree; MBA or other advanced degree preferred
- Active CPA; deep knowledge of GAAP
- Minimum of 15 years experience with extensive work within a consumer goods company
- Experience with Oracle Cloud financials is a plus
- Private Equity portfolio company experience, preferred
- Results-oriented, highly energetic, dynamic, with hands-on mentality
- Excellent communicator with the ability to present information clearly and concisely to peers, senior management and external investors
- High attention to detail and demonstrated bias for action to meet business and project objectives and timelines
