What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cleaner — Flexible Day & Evening Shifts position at Melissa & A Mop?
Melissa & a Mop is hiring experienced cleaners in the Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, and Addison area. We have more work than we can handle — and we need reliable partners to help us cover it.
We handle all the customers, scheduling, billing, and booking. You just clean.
Two Tracks Available (choose one or both):
DAYTIME RESIDENTIAL (Mon-Sun, 8 AM - 6 PM)
Clean homes across the western suburbs. Choose your start time — most partners finish 3-4 homes by 2-3 PM. Our homeowners expect quality work and tip well. You keep 100% of tips.
EVENING COMMERCIAL (Mon-Sun, starting 6 PM — shift length varies by building)
Clean office buildings and commercial spaces. Same buildings, same schedule — no surprises, no client drama. Just clean and go home. Great as a second income or primary evening role.
Pay:
- $23/hr guaranteed for all partners
- $25/hr after 90 days with consistent quality ratings
- Top residential partners clear $28 /hr with tips
- Paid weekly via direct deposit

Requirements:
- 1 year cleaning experience
- Must be able to communicate with clients and our team in English (multilingual is a plus)
- Reliable vehicle and valid driver's license
- Own cleaning supplies and equipment
- Smartphone for receiving job details
This is a 1099 independent contractor position. You control your schedule and how you work. No taxes withheld — you manage your own. We provide free onboarding to help you get started.
