Project Engineer

Job Summary

Melink Solar, a leader in Commercial (C&I) and Utility (IPP) solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction), is seeking a Project Engineer to support our technical project development. Reporting to the Director of Engineering & Quality, this role is essential in Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) system design from initial conception through project completion. As a technical resource, you will work closely with customers, the sales team, and project execution teams to develop and design efficient and cost-effective solar PV and BESS systems that meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate customer facilities to determine the feasibility of various solar mounting solutions including the electrical interconnection strategy
• Develop tailored solar PV system designs and energy production models using industry-specific software to determine optimal system size and performance.
• Develop BESS systems using industry-specific modeling for sizing and performance
• Review and approve electrical equipment submittals
• Perform electrical calculations and system sizing, ensuring all designs meet local codes, regulations, and standards.
• Design and develop complete electrical design sets from interconnection application through construction plan sets complying with relevant code standards
• Lead the Utility specific interconnection application process
• Compile detailed reports that integrate utility data, system sizing/costs, and projected energy production for sales presentations.
• Support Sales team customer meetings, providing technical expertise to help educate and guide customers in their decision-making process.
• Coordinate with construction teams to ensure accurate system installation
• Complete all technical deliverables within an assigned project
• Support or lead QA/QC on-site audits within an assigned project
• Value engineering
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned
  
  

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field required
• Strong understanding of solar photovoltaic (PV) technology and system design.
• Understanding of Battery technology and their application as storage systems for commercial and utility scale
• Experience with AutoCAD
• Understanding of electrical line drawings is preferred.
• Experience with design/modeling tools such as: Helioscope, Solesca, ETB, PVcase, SAM, PVsyst.
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE/ANSI standards, and electrical codes is a plus.
• Familiarity with electrical system construction is a plus.
• Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and stakeholders.
• Exceptional customer service skills, including strong verbal and written communication, emotional intelligence, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and other data management tools for analyzing energy models and financial metrics.
• Self-motivated, hardworking, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Additional skills and qualifications are preferred but not required: Power Quality, PV capacity testing, Power Studies, ETAP Modeling, Utility Scale Electrical, Medium Voltage Design (pole, metering, and interconnection), SEL programming with Ascelerator, ETAP modeling, PE in Electrical Engineering.
