Role Summary

As a Compounding Pharmacy Sales Representative at Melbourne Pharma, you will be a key driver of our mission to expand access to innovative, high-quality compounded medications. This results-driven role combines new business development with ongoing customer engagement. You will serve as the face of Melbourne Pharma, promoting our 503A compounding pharmacy services to healthcare professionals, clinics, and prescribers within your assigned territory. Your primary responsibilities include generating new business leads, building strong relationships with providers, and achieving ambitious sales quotas through strategic territory management, in-person visits, and participation in industry events.


Successful team members are proactive, highly organized, and passionate about fostering partnerships that enhance patient care while meeting company growth objectives. This role requires up to 40-75% travel, depending on territory needs, and a commitment to exceeding financial and network expansion goals while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.


Compensation : Base Salary (based on experience and territory) plus commission

Job Responsibilities

Business Development and Sales

  • Identify and target potential prescribers (e.g., physicians, clinics, hospitals, and veterinary practices) to expand Melbourne Pharma’s customer base within your defined territory.
  • Source new sales opportunities through research, networking, and leveraging existing provider relationships, with a focus on organic growth.
  • Create and execute a strategic Territory Business Plan to grow prescription volume, enhance brand visibility, and meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Deliver compelling, needs-based sales presentations that articulate the value of Melbourne Pharma ’s compounding services and therapeutic offerings.
  • Achieve opportunity-based sales quotas by advancing leads through the sales process with consistent follow-up and face-to-face communication.


Customer Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with healthcare professionals, key decision-makers, and existing customers to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between accounts and Melbourne Pharma, utilizing internal resources to address customer needs and resolve service issues.
  • Routinely visit healthcare facilities, pharmacies, and prescribers to detail the availability of compounded products and gather competitive intelligence.
  • Expand ongoing relationships with targeted customers and non-active prospects to drive current and future growth opportunities.


Education and Support

  • Learn and relay technical information about Melbourne Pharma's services, therapy offerings, and compliance standards to prescribers and pharmacy staff.
  • Compile and distribute educational materials to increase awareness and utilization of our compounded medications.
  • Coordinate training sessions with clinical liaisons to support providers in understanding best practices and regulatory requirements.


Territory Management and Reporting

  • Plan and optimize territory coverage with a pre-planned routing schedule, ensuring a minimum of 90% of scheduled calls are completed monthly.
  • Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software to document all communications, track sales pipelines, and manage daily activity reports.
  • Prepare weekly reports for management on pipeline progress, performance metrics, and market trends.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of prospects and prescriber profiles, including prescription potential, key contacts, and competitive activity.


Industry Engagement

  • Participate actively in trade shows, conferences, and marketing events to enhance product knowledge, network with industry stakeholders, and promote Melbourne Pharma.
  • Stay informed on disease states, product applications, market conditions, and competitor activities to refine sales strategies.


Internal Collaboration

  • Foster effective working relationships with support departments to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Demonstrate company core values by collaborating with team members, driving execution, and solving problems creatively.


Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field (preferred) or equivalent experience (e.g., Medical/Pharmacy certification such as RN, CPhT, or LPN).
  • 0-5 years of experience in sales, business development, or consultative selling, preferably in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, or compounding pharmacy industry.
  • Familiarity with compounded medications and their applications is a plus.


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in territory planning, needs-based discovery, overcoming objections, and delivering presentations.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, track performance metrics, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a high level of accuracy.
  • Comfortable using CRM platforms, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), and technology to maximize efficiency.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and proactive in hunting for new opportunities.


Physical and Travel Requirements

  • Must reside within the assigned territory (e.g., within 1 hour of a major metropolitan airport if specified).
  • Willingness to travel up to 40-75% of the time for field sales, conferences, and client visits.
