Duties
- Safely operate a variety of commercial vehicles including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other freight carriers.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary.
- Follow assigned routes diligently while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to identify maintenance needs or safety issues.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, route documentation, and delivery records for accountability.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, delays, or issues encountered during routes.
- Ensure cargo is secured properly to prevent damage during transit and handle special freight requirements with care.
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or truck driver within a commercial transportation environment.
- Familiarity with operating manual transmission vehicles and various truck types such as tractor-trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and refrigerated trailers.
- Knowledge of route planning and driving regulations across different regions or states.
- Ability to load & unload freight efficiently using equipment like forklifts or roll-off trucks when applicable.
- Prior experience handling freight that requires special attention such as hazardous materials or temperature-sensitive cargo is a plus.
- Strong commitment to safety practices and vehicle maintenance routines.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on the vehicle type.
