What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Safety Quality Lead position at Meister Cheese Company?
The Food Safety Quality Lead/Technician is responsible for routine monitoring and verification of food safety and quality procedures, facilities, materials and controls. In addition, the FSQ Lead acts as first responder and investigator for complaints, food safety and quality incidents and corrective actions on shift. This role also is cross-trained in laboratory procedures, controls and supports laboratory testing as needed. This role reports to the Quality Systems Supervisor.
1. Preventive Controls Verification
a. Conduct routine reviews/verification of food safety and quality program monitoring to facilitate timely release of finished goods
b. Conduct routine plant inspections and support internal audits of plant facilities and processes
c. Perform routine product review for positive release and prepare/verify finished good COAs
d. Verify compliance of incoming material COAs
2. Corrective Action System Maintenance
a. Record and track all non-conformances according to the requirements of the site CAPA system
b. Issue formal corrective actions for required non-conformances
3. Food Safety and Quality Incidents
a. Conduct and document incident investigations under the supervision of the Quality Systems Supervisor
b. Act as first responder to food safety and quality incidents in support of operations including placing product on hold where necessary
4. Maintain equipment calibrations
5. Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of food safety and quality programs
6. Support the execution of the Environmental Monitoring Program including but not limited to:
a. Environmental swabbing and communication of results with the appropriate management as stated in the program documents.
b. Assisting with investigating positive results, root cause analysis and prescribing corrective actions
7. Support investigation of Customer Complaints and formulate initial responses
a. Support the implementation of corrective & preventative actions that arise from customer complaints.
b. Ensure maintenance of customer complaint records and ensure that investigation completion supports timely responses to customers.
8. Support information requests to facilitate customer document requests as needed.
9. Support and contribute to department, Food Safety and/or HACCP Team meetings and initiatives
10. Laboratory Support and Competency
a. Proficient in laboratory testing procedures, Good Laboratory Practices and maintenance of the Laboratory Internal Control Plan
b. Support laboratory analysis and testing as needed
11. Essential skills and highly preferred qualifications:
a. Essential skills
i. Basic use of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Outlook. Experience with SharePoint is a plus.
ii. Ability to learn and use company databases and reporting tools
iii. Ability to learn and use various web portals and applications
iv. Experience in dairy manufacturing or quality preferred
v. Ability to prepare documents and written statements for internal and external use
vi. High level of organization and attention to detail required.
b. Highly preferred qualifications-
i. FSPCA Food Defense IAVA Certification
ii. FSPCA Preventive Control Qualified Individual
iii. HACCP Certification
