Job Opening: Power Grid Applications Engineer
Meinberg synchronization products are used extensively in power generation, transmission, and distribution. With the move to green energy, power generation is becoming more and more distributed, requiring accurate and coordinated measurements of power flows. As a result, substations are being digitized and require precise and complex timing technology, including IRIG, NTP, and IEEE-1588 PTP including PRP/HSR. The Meinberg USA Power Grid Applications Engineer will lead our effort to support power grid customers and grow our business in this market.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate and evangelize Meinberg power grid synchronization technology to customers at tradeshows, technical conferences, and webinars.
- Create and present technical papers for Power Grid conferences with the support of colleagues
- Participate in standards committees such as IEEE, IEC & CIGRE on topics related to Time Synchronization, to contribute to standards & guide development in the industry.
- Support customer needs for power grid synchronization products through the sales process by explaining technology, proposing solutions, and supporting installations and configurations.
- Drive and develop strategic partnerships with vendors that help promote Meinberg products to end customers
- Become an expert on power grid synchronization needs, Meinberg products, industry standards, and competitive solutions and leverage this expertise into compelling collateral.
- Assist R&D by engaging with customers on new technology developments.
- Drive roadmap and product definition for future Meinberg power grid products.
Requirements:
- Good customer engagement and communications skills, patient and diplomatic, service-oriented
- Strong understanding of the technology involved in the power grid industry – generation, transmission, and distribution.
- Has high-level understanding of the power grid industry
- Strong understanding of computers and networking technology, including switches and routers and TCP/IP and Ethernet
- Good understanding of software development and basic understanding of security protocols
- Technical aptitude & attention to detail
- Dependable and hard working
- Desire to contribute to a growing company and share the work and challenges
- Preferred: Knowledge of timing technology: GPS/GNSS, IRIG, NTP, PTP
