Meier Watkins is a growing boutique litigation firm focused on plaintiff-side defamation, media law, and reputation counseling. We represent individuals, businesses, public figures, and institutions in high-stakes disputes involving reputational harm, false statements, and related business torts. Our matters span jurisdictions across the country, from Delaware to California, and regularly involve prominent media organizations, technology platforms, and sophisticated adversaries.
In addition to litigation, the firm maintains an active reputation counseling practice. We frequently advocate for clients before litigation through strategic correspondence, investigations, media engagement, and other forms of pre-suit advocacy.
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Paralegal to support both our litigation and reputation counseling practices.
Responsibilities
Litigation Support
- Prepare and file pleadings, motions, and other court submissions in state and federal courts nationwide.
- Manage court filings through electronic filing systems and maintain filing calendars.
- Perform cite-checking and Bluebook verification for briefs and legal memoranda.
- Retrieve court filings, docket materials, and public records from courts and agencies.
- Coordinate with court reporters, process servers, e-discovery vendors, trial consultants, and other litigation service providers.
- Organize, maintain, and manage electronic and physical matter files.
- Assist with document collection, review, production, and case management.
- Support discovery efforts, including document requests, subpoenas, and e-discovery workflows.
- Track deadlines and assist attorneys with litigation logistics and case administration.
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit management, witness coordination, and trial binders. (The firm typically conducts approximately one trial per year.)
Reputation Counseling and Pre-Litigation Support
- Proofread and format formal correspondence, demand letters, and advocacy materials.
- Assist attorneys with factual investigations and background research.
- Monitor traditional and social media for client-related developments.
- Collect, organize, and preserve online evidence and public-source materials.
- Maintain research files and chronologies.
- Support client communications and matter management.
Qualifications
- 3 years of paralegal experience, preferably in commercial litigation, media law, defamation, or complex civil litigation.
- Strong familiarity with federal and state court filing systems.
- Experience managing litigation files and document-intensive matters.
- Working knowledge of e-discovery platforms and litigation support technology.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written communication and proofreading abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- Professional judgment, discretion, and a commitment to high-quality work.
