What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Laborer - Rayville, LA position at MEI Rigging & Crating LLC?

Or do you have a background in construction? Can you work night shift? THIS IS A NIGHT SHIFT ROLE, WORKING HOURS ARE M-F, 6PM - 6AM.

- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more
- General labor experience preferred; commercial construction experience is a plus.
- Experience using hand and power tools; previous experience using forklifts and other construction experience is a plus
- Punctuality, dependability, and a strong work ethic are an absolute must.
- Willing to train.
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in order to ensure the safety of workers and materials
- Test rigging to ensure safety and reliability
- Attach loads to rigging to provide support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power tools.
- Select gear such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work schedules.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, and other equipment.
- Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point suspension techniques.
- Align, level, and anchor machinery.
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures such as beams, and ceilings, using bolts and clamps.
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
- Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment - Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, and passenger vehicles.
- Controlling Machines and Processes - Using either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes (not including computers or vehicles
- There may be occasional regional travel
Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, and Education)
- Forklift Experience
- Construction Experience
- Valid Driver's License
- Demonstrates professionalism, including good rapport with coworkers, customers, and vendors.
- Osha 10 for Construction
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Performing General Physical Activities — Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
