Industrial Electrician performs electrical installation, maintenance, and repairs of machinery and industrial equipment. Provides match-marking, disconnects, and reconnects of machinery and industrial equipment being relocated, dismantled, or removed. May be subject to overtime, which is an essential function of the position per project conditions. Some travel also required.
The electrician will be part of the installation and relocation team, occasionally assisting rigging foreman and machinery movers with their duties. Cross-craft training will be provided.
Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Industrial Electrician
This is very physical, hands-on work. An Industrial Electrician must be able to perform: General Physical Activities — activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds. Must have the ability to work off the ground at varying heights and not be affected by moving machinery or parts. Willing and able to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Industrial Electrician
- Install, maintain, monitor, and repair electrical components/systems of machinery and industrial equipment.
- Perform all match-marking, disconnects, and reconnects.
- Ensure all mechanical components and wiring are up to date and code.
- Utilize standard electrical testing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform diagnostics on industrial equipment in industrial settings.
- Collaborate and assist other trades such as riggers and machinery movers to install, dismantle, or relocate machinery and equipment; including to: Assist in moving large, heavy objects into position, or control movements of machinery or equipment through narrow openings, confined or elevated spaces, or along routes that present technical or logistical challenges.
- Proper application of electrical systems, rigging tools, equipment, and devices on job site.
- Conduct/Participate in daily safety meetings. Ensure compliance with safe trade practices at every step of process.
- Use effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive environment and relationships.
- Journeyman Electricians are responsible for everyday tasks to get the job done, advanced electrical systems, and oversight of Industrial Electrician Helpers.
- Must be mechanically proficient and experienced with tools that are appropriate for this trade.
- Collaborate with multiple trades personnel throughout the process of Alignment, leveling, anchoring, and dismantling of machinery/equipment for operations.
- Replace defective parts of machine or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts, adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance and replace worn, damaged, or defective electrical/mechanical parts.
- Comply with standards and procedures of MEI’s Health and Safety Manual and Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when required.
- Complete assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
- Complete required paperwork.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, Industrial Electrician training and certifications preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of Industrial Electrician experience or comparable field experience in the construction service industry
- Valid Driver’s License or ability to attain.
- Ability to understand blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Familiar with industrial electrical codes, standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Effective interpersonal skills to maintain positive environment and relationships.
- Good understanding of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, and correct grammatical structure.
- Be approachable, open-minded, and possess a strong sense of responsibility; passionate about work.
- A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
- HS diploma or equivalent necessary; higher education preferred for advanced Electrician positions.
- Five years of Industrial Electrician or directly related experience. Additional years’ experience preferred for advanced Electrician positions.
- Ability to supervise the work of others and manage their time efficiently.
- Advanced use of, or knowledge in jack skating, leveling tools, dollies, etc.
- Able to instruct, guide, and/or mentor others in safety protocol and standard electrical practices.
