What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Services Technician position at Meherrin River Regional Jail?
JOB Direct contact and supervision of inmates. Supervises the preparation, cooking and serving of meals in the jail; supervises the preparation of meats, vegetables and other food for meals; instructs inmate workers assigned to food service work in the proper techniques of food preparation; controls the amount of food prepared; prepares bread, vegetables, meats, fish, poultry and desserts; cooks and serves meals from basic foods to jail inmates; keeps simple records and makes reports in connection with the work; supervises and participates in the cleaning of the kitchen storeroom and utensils; accounts for all utensils after meals are finished; checks closely each step in the cooking process; performs related work as required; prepares staff meals daily, ensuring inmates do not have contact with staff food.
