Operations Technician - Oyster Creek, Texas
MEGlobal Americas Inc. is seeking two qualified Process Operators for our world-scale Ethylene Glycol plant near Oyster Creek, TX.
The Process Operator role ensures the safe and reliable operation of the plant assets including operations rounds, process adjustment, equipment and unit start-up and shutdown, equipment preparation for maintenance and subsequent return to operation. In addition, the role will include active participation in and support of various plant goals, teams, and initiatives. Training will begin as a straight day activity, moving to shift rotations to support normal plant operations. Process Operators will work in a highly participative, self -managed team environment. Successful candidates will work rotating 12-hour shifts (including nights and weekends) to support the safe, environmentally sound and efficient day-to-day operations of the facility.
Principle Accountabilities:
- Ensure operational activities and process performance are aligned with plant and business goals
- Perform tasks assigned to Operations per the Master Task List (field checks, equipment preparation, equipment isolation, sample collection, EH&S tasks, etc.)
- Follow operating discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas
- Perform immediate response activities and manage unplanned events
- Use process knowledge and skills to make improvements in plant performance and operating discipline
- Utilize multiple plant computer control systems, including DCS
- Perform process equipment troubleshooting, minor repairs, improvements and preventive maintenance utilizing appropriate processes and disciplines
- When required, submits value added work requests via SAP work order system
- As required, initiates and participates in root cause investigations
- Coaches and trains others on plant operations
- Actively participates in unit EH&S programs; act as a Safe Work Permit Issuer, as authorized in unit safety standards
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is required
- In addition, one of the following is required:
- Associates Degree in Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation/Electrical, or Computer Technology
- Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in any field is acceptable if you meet the following criteria: 1 semester of College Algebra, 4 semesters of Science/Technology (computer, chemistry, biology, physics, environmental, mechanical) and 2 semesters communications classes (English, speech, etc.)
- 4 years (or more) of active military experience, honorable discharge, MOS rating that is technical in nature.
- 2 or more years of experience working in an industrial/manufacturing role, such as Process Operator/Technician.
Requirements:
- Physical Ability – lift, climb, operate valves and various equipment
- Have current, valid, United States driver license
- Able to work a 12-hour rotating shift and overtime as required
- Ability to work rotating shift, overtime, holidays and weekends
- Demonstrate leadership, initiative, and the ability to learn
- Able to give and receive position and constructive feedback in a respectful, professional manner
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to climb stairs and work at heights
- Must be able to work in tight or closed-in spaces
- Must be able to use standard safety equipment and meet any safety equipment weight restrictions
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Outlook, Word, and Excel, and be able to learn new systems quickly
- Must be able to work legally in the United States
