Payroll Administrator Partner
Megastar HR is seeking an extremely organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused Payroll Administrator, or as we call them here, Payroll Partner, to join our “megastar” team and support multiple clients outsourcing payroll administration. Our Payroll Partners provide payroll support and guidance for clients and their employees. They administer payroll with a high level of accuracy, strict confidentiality, and ease across multiple payroll/HRIS systems. They are experts when it comes to best practices and compliance with payroll taxes and regulations.
Schedule: Full-time, benefits-eligible position; 100% remote position
Pay: Starting $52.5K bonus potential, commensurate with experience

DAY-TO-DAY
- Act as primary point of contact for payroll requests, questions, or concerns via email, phone, and/or chat from managers and employees
- Audit payroll errors and compliance risks and provide recommendations to protect from potential penalties and claims
- Document payroll administration procedures to ensure best practices and appropriate backup
- Ensure tax filings are completed on time and accurately (940, 941, W-3/W-2, unemployment insurance, new hire reporting, and other state filings)
- Prepare customized payroll reports to support operational needs
- Prepare and process payroll in client’s system of choice, including timely and accurate administration, as applicable, of: Tax income withholding certificates (W-4, state); Earnings and deductions (overtime, benefits, PTO, garnishments), and benefit fundings (401(k), HSA); Payment methods (direct deposit, cash cards, check); Time and attendance tracking, paid time off accruals and payout (PTO, holidays, bereavement); Job costing and allocation; Garnishments, support orders, and tax levies; Final paycheck reconciliation and payout; and Verifications of employment (verbal and written)
- Willingness to support other Megastar HR functions (HR and recruiting) when needed to ensure we’re exceeding the expectations of all clients
WHAT IT TAKES TO SUCCEED:
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of demonstrated success supporting payroll or an HR function, preferably in an HR-outsourced environment
- Education: Bachelor's degree in human resources, finance, accounting, business, or related major; or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Certification: Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred, but not required; however, must have a desire and willingness to work toward achieving this certification
- Competencies: Demonstrated knowledge of HR and/or payroll acumen & best practices, able to accept mentoring & embrace training; Intrinsically motivated self-starter, able to apply creativity & take initiative without receiving explicit direction; Excellent planning, organization, and coordination skills; Strong verbal, written, and listening communication ability, fluent in English; Responsive, patient, diplomatic, and flexible in order to handle dynamic situations and personalities so as to build and maintain rapport with clients and within our Megastar HR team
- Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Working knowledge of payroll systems, preferably multiple systems, or strong aptitude to learn systems in general (Paycom, ADP, UKG, Paychex, Paycor, Rippling, Gusto, QuickBooks, Paylocity, BambooHR)
