Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Automotive Low Voltage Power Supply / PowerNet Systems Engineer to support the development of next-generation vehicle electrical architectures across global vehicle platforms.

In this role, you will design and integrate foundational 12V and 48V power supply architectures, develop advanced power distribution concepts, and ensure robust system-level performance, reliability, and functional safety. The ideal candidate brings strong Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering experience, with hands-on knowledge of automotive low-voltage electrical systems and ISO 26262 functional safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop advanced 12V and 48V automotive power supply architectures for next-generation vehicle platforms.
  • Develop and evaluate power distribution architectures and concepts based on vehicle-level requirements.
  • Apply Systems Engineering methodologies to analyze vehicle requirements, use cases, interfaces, and system dependencies.
  • Derive and cascade power supply hardware requirements to components, subsystems, and suppliers.
  • Lead PowerNet architecture adaptation based on individual vehicle/program requirements.
  • Adapt platform-level power supply solutions to specific program demands and vehicle architectures.
  • Coordinate and align relevant PowerNet engineering workstreams to ensure successful program execution.
  • Apply ISO 26262 functional safety principles to low-voltage power supply architectures.
  • Identify safety risks, define appropriate safety requirements, and support functional safety activities throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate closely with power supply controls/software teams to ensure proper interaction between hardware architecture and power management functions.
  • Support component engineers and suppliers with the development, integration, testing, and validation of power supply components.
  • Support integration of the low-voltage power net architecture into the complete vehicle electrical architecture.
  • Work cross-functionally with electrical, electronics, controls, systems, functional safety, packaging, and vehicle integration teams.
  • Perform system-level analysis, sizing, verification, and troubleshooting of automotive electrical power systems.
  • Utilize AI tools and engineering methods to support analysis, optimization, technical problem-solving, and engineering decision-making.
  • Support technical reviews, design assessments, issue resolution, and program milestones.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations effectively to internal engineering teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in:
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Mechatronics Engineering
  • Automotive Engineering
  • Systems Engineering
  • or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • 3 years of experience in automotive low-voltage power supply engineering, specifically involving 12V and/or 48V systems.
  • Experience with the design, analysis, sizing, integration, and verification of automotive electrical systems.
  • Proven understanding and application of Systems Engineering principles and methodologies.
  • Experience applying ISO 26262 functional safety practices within the automotive domain.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and systems-level engineering capabilities.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple engineering organizations and technical disciplines.
  • Ability to utilize AI-based engineering tools and methods for analysis and problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience with complex automotive electrical architectures and 12V/48V power distribution systems.
  • Experience with automotive PowerNet architecture development and adaptation.
  • Familiarity with Ford engineering processes and tools, including:
  • FEDE (Ford Engineering Design Environment)
  • Jama
  • GPDS (Global Product Development System)
  • Jira
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for automotive system simulation and analysis.
  • Strong understanding of automotive communication systems and networks.
  • Experience working with suppliers and component engineering teams.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve complex technical issues.
