Position Summary

Meeting Street Partners is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead the full scope of Human Resources for MSP and our supported companies.

This is a highly independent, department-of-one role responsible for both the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of the HR function. The Director will serve as the primary HR resource for employees, managers, and leadership across all four organizations.

The successful candidate will be able to quickly assess existing HR practices and organizational needs, identify priorities and risks, and independently implement practical solutions while effectively managing the day-to-day HR function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR resource for MSP and three supported companies, independently managing the day-to-day HR function across all four organizations.
  • Assess HR practices, policies, systems, documentation, and processes; identify gaps and risks; and develop and implement appropriate solutions.
  • Advise leadership and managers on employee relations, performance, staffing, compensation, workforce planning, organizational needs, and employment practices.
  • Manage employee relations matters from initial concern through resolution, including complaints, workplace concerns, conflict resolution, corrective action, performance improvement, terminations, and workplace investigations.
  • Manage the full recruiting and hiring lifecycle, including job descriptions, sourcing and screening, interviews, offers, background checks, employment eligibility verification, E-Verify, and other pre-employment requirements.
  • Manage the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, benefits enrollment, required training, employee changes, promotions, transfers, compensation changes, and separations.
  • Administer employee benefits and compensation programs, including enrollments, renewals, open enrollment, vendor coordination, market benchmarking, pay recommendations, and employee issue resolution.
  • Partner with Payroll and Finance to process and verify employee payroll changes and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain HRIS data, personnel files, organizational charts, job descriptions, compensation records, and required HR documentation.
  • Develop and administer performance management, employee development, manager coaching, and employee, management, and compliance training.
  • Develop and maintain employee handbooks, policies, procedures, forms, and HR programs and ensure compliance with applicable federal and South Carolina employment requirements.
  • Manage employee leave, workplace accommodations, workers' compensation, return-to-work processes, employment verifications, unemployment claims, audits, government requests, and other employment-related matters.
  • Maintain required workplace injury and HR-related safety records and partner with leadership and operational teams on incident investigations, corrective actions, and workplace safety initiatives.
  • Monitor workforce trends and HR metrics; proactively identify compliance, employee relations, and workforce risks; and provide leadership with recommendations and solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and significant HR experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years in an HR leadership or management role.
  • Experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical manufacturing, life sciences, manufacturing, laboratory operations, or another regulated environment.
  • Broad, hands-on HR experience with demonstrated ability to personally manage the day-to-day responsibilities of an HR function.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and South Carolina employment laws and employment practices.
  • Demonstrated experience advising managers and senior leadership on complex employee relations, performance, organizational, and employment matters.
  • Ability to independently assess HR needs and risks, establish priorities, and develop and implement effective solutions with minimal direction.
  • Strong judgment, communication, organization, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities and provide HR services across multiple companies or business units.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Experience supporting multiple affiliated companies, business units, or legal entities.
  • Experience establishing, rebuilding, or significantly improving an HR function within a growing or evolving organization.
  • Experience supporting professional, technical, laboratory, manufacturing, and/or operations employees.

Work Environment

The role supports MSP and three supported organizations located within approximately 10 miles of one another and operates across professional offices, laboratories, and manufacturing environments. The position may require adherence to established safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Occasional schedule flexibility may be required to address employee or operational needs.
