Responsibilities
- Assist customers with their gardening needs while providing guidance and recommendations to customers on plant selection, care, and maintenance
- Maintain the appearance of the garden center by organizing and arranging plants and merchandise
- Water, prune, and care for plants to ensure their health and vitality
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system, handling cash, credit card, and other payment methods
- Assist with inventory management, including receiving deliveries and stocking merchandise
- Collaborate with team members to create attractive displays and promotional setups
- Answer customer inquiries in person, over the phone, or via email
- Assist with e-commerce operations, including online order fulfillment
Requirements
- A basic knowledge of plants is required along with an enthusiasm to learn
- Ability and willingness to carry heavy items, such as bags of soil or potted plants
- Ability to work outdoors on your feet in various weather conditions
- Excellent customer service skills to provide a positive shopping experience
- Strong sales skills to connect with customers and sell products through thoughtful recommendations
- Attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in using a point-of-sale (POS) system for processing sales transactions and knowledge of e-commerce platforms
