Senior / Advanced Lung Disease Sales Specialist

A leading, innovation-driven biotech company is expanding its specialty sales team and is seeking an experienced pulmonary sales professional to join a high-performing commercial organization focused on rare and serious lung diseases.
This is an opportunity to represent a market-leading portfolio in Pulmonary Hypertension (PH-ILD), Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD), and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), while working within a company known for its strong pipeline, patient-first culture, and long-term investment in rare disease innovation.
The role offers genuine ownership of territory strategy, strong exposure to major academic and institutional accounts, and the opportunity to partner closely with pulmonologists, specialty pharmacies, nurses, and multidisciplinary care teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive sales performance across a defined Richmond, VA territory
- Build and maintain relationships with pulmonologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, and key institutional stakeholders
- Educate healthcare professionals on complex pulmonary disease states and specialty therapies
- Develop strategic territory business plans to maximize growth opportunities
- Partner cross-functionally with market access, medical, and patient support teams
- Engage with academic centers, teaching hospitals, and specialty pharmacy networks
- Attend regional and national pulmonary conferences and educational programs
- Utilize data and analytics to identify opportunities and optimize territory performance
Ideal Background
- 6 years of pharmaceutical or biotech sales experience
- Strong experience selling into pulmonology, cardiology, respiratory, or other specialty markets
- Proven track record of success in specialty or rare disease sales
- Experience calling on academic centers, institutional accounts, or teaching hospitals preferred
- Strong clinical and scientific communication skills
- Ability to manage complex accounts and navigate long sales cycles
- Experience in PH, ILD, IPF, respiratory biologics, or specialty pharmacy highly desirable
