The Role

As a Senior Product Manager, Patient Marketing, you will help shape how patients with serious, rare diseases discover, access, and stay engaged with transformative therapies. You'll combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution to develop impactful patient marketing programs that make a genuine difference in patients' and caregivers' lives.
You'll lead patient launch initiatives from concept through execution, collaborate across multiple functions, and transform insights into compelling campaigns that support commercial objectives while improving the patient journey. The Senior Product Manager is responsible for developing and executing patient marketing strategies and initiatives that support the successful commercialization of new and existing products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex, cross-functional patient marketing initiatives targeting patients and caregivers from strategy through execution.
- Manage the development, review, production, and launch of patient-facing marketing materials while ensuring alignment with agency and internal partners.
- Contribute to annual patient marketing plans, including brand strategy, positioning, messaging, and tactical execution.
- Support development and management of annual marketing budgets, vendor scope of work, project budgets, contracts, and timelines.
- Help define market research objectives and develop qualitative and quantitative research materials to generate actionable patient insights.
- Lead promotional review processes for patient-facing assets and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address feedback while maintaining strategic objectives.
- Develop core patient launch materials including brochures, caregiver resources, digital content, and educational materials.
- Partner closely with digital marketing teams across web, social media, paid media, and CRM to ensure integrated campaign execution.
- Track and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) for patient marketing initiatives and recommend optimizations.
- Build relationships with healthcare professionals and key stakeholders to understand evolving market dynamics and patient needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including market access, patient services, advocacy, medical affairs, and commercial teams to ensure alignment across the patient journey.
- Maintain expertise in disease states, competitive landscape, clinical data, payer environment, and emerging market trends.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment across all initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree with 8 years of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device marketing experience; or
- Master's degree with 6 years of relevant marketing experience; or
- PharmD with 3 years of relevant marketing experience.
- Minimum 6 years of patient marketing and/or healthcare professional (HCP) marketing experience.
- Experience developing and executing digital marketing initiatives across social media, websites, and paid media.
- Experience with CRM strategy, implementation, and performance measurement.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and execution skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred
- Master's degree in a related discipline.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Experience supporting pharmaceutical product launches.
- Previous pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device sales experience.
- Experience partnering with patient advocacy organizations.
Location
This position is based in Durham, North Carolina, operating in a hybrid model with a minimum of three days per week in the office. Office attendance requirements may increase based on business needs.
