Role Description
This is a part-time on-site position (Saturday and Sunday) for a Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) Associate at our Manteca, CA location. The AMFT Associate will provide therapeutic services, including individual, couples, and family counseling, with a focus on supporting mental health and relationship well-being. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records of sessions, collaborating with clients to establish treatment goals, and participating in regular supervision to ensure compliance with professional standards.
Qualifications
- Masters In counseling and active AMFT or APCC number
- Expertise in Relationship Counseling, Family Therapy, and Counseling
- Knowledge and skills in Psychology, Mental Health, and associated therapeutic approaches
- Ability to create a safe, judgment-free space for clients in individual or group settings
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, or a related field, along with active registration as an MFT Associate in California
- Familiarity with maintaining compliant and accurate client records
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical and legal therapy practices
- Able to perform services in Spanish
EMPLOYEE RESPONSIBILITIES.
Employee shall be employed in the professional capacity of a part time Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. Hybrid schedule with remote option.
Clinical:
1. Provide psychotherapeutic care for at least 10 client hours. A grace period of 3 months is expected as the EMPLOYEE’s client base grows but there is an expectation of at least 5 clients a week by the 2 months mark. 10 hours/week is the required level. Actual client load is expected to vary from week to week.
2. Therapist will provide services in person in Manteca (Saturday and Sunday)
3. Maintain all ethical and legal standards required by the BBS, other governing entities, and the EMPLOYER including specific requirements to be an Associate MFT.
4. Obtain supervision units as required by the BBS, sit for and pass the LMFT California Law and Ethics Exam as required by the BBS, and obtain and maintain active and good standing Associate status with the BBS. Supervision takes place on Thursday at 1pm.
5. Maintain work authorization to be employed in the United States.
6. Maintain documentation in the following areas:
· For licensure or otherwise, as stipulated by the BBS or other governing bodies. This is entirely the EMPLOYEE’s responsibility. EMPLOYEE will not be reminded or prompted by EMPLOYER.
· Clear and accurate documentation of clinical work, completed within 48 hours of session.
7. Record hours worked on a daily basis.
8. Submit Associate BBS forms to be signed on a monthly basis.
9. Employment is subject to a 90 day probationary period. During this time, the employees performance and suitability for the position will be evaluated failure to meet expectations during this period may result in termination.
During 90-day probationary period employees are required to complete the following.
a. Familiarize self with EHR and documentation protocols
b. Have completed an intake and follow up session with 5 clients.
c. Attend one networking event.
d. New or updated Psychology today profile
e. Consider joining local CAMFT chapter (if not already a member)
f. Set goals (clinical and professional)
g. Send photo and bio
h. Strategic marketing plan that includes:
i. Identify directories, list serves & other resources to promote
ii. Possible community presentation/outreach plan
Additional Responsibilities: Employee shall also perform such other duties in the ordinary course of business as performed by other persons in similar such positions, as well as such other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Employer.
Duty of Loyalty and Best Efforts: The Employee shall devote the Employee's best efforts and substantially all of the Employee's working time to performing the duties on behalf of Employer. The Employee shall provide services during the hours that are scheduled by Employer. The Employee shall be prompt in reporting to work at the assigned time.
EMPLOYER RESPONSIBILITIES. EMPLOYER agrees to provide:
A. Supervision with the goal of developing the EMPLOYEE into a healing, caring and competent therapist.
B. Compensation for providing psychotherapy to clients will be paid to EMPLOYEE monthly. Compensation will be the sum of:
1. Base wages at $20 hourly wage rate, for non-clinical hours
2. $40 an hour per clinical hour
3. Employees are paid monthly with timecards being due on the 30th of each month. The Company will make all necessary deductions as required by law from Employee’s compensation.
4. Salary Adjustments: Employer may at times adjust salaries depending on the Employee's performance, overall performance of the Employer, and other competitive factors.
C. Access to practice management software (currently Sessions Health). EMPLOYER will pay for subscription fees.
D. Malpractice insurance coverage. Such coverage will ONLY cover therapy clients seen on behalf of the EMPLOYER and will not cover other sites at which the EMPLOYEE may practice). The EMPLOYEE has the option to obtain her or his own professional liability insurance.
E. Marketing support, including but not limited to listing EMPLOYEE on websites, support with the development of a personal website, and training on marketing options. Referrals to EMPLOYEE are provided when available but not guaranteed.
F. Sick Time: Upon completion of thirty (30) working days, you will accrue one (1) hour of sick leave for every thirty (30) hours worked. Your maximum allowed accrued hours will be 40 hours.
G. Workman’s compensation is provided at the California legal limit

I. Place and Hours of Employment: Employee agrees that their duties shall be rendered at Employer’s business premises or at such other places as the Employer may require and approve (TeleHealth Services). Hours of work shall be flexible depending on caseload and upon approval by supervisor.
2. MARKETING:
EMPLOYER will promote the general practice and will include the EMPLOYEE’s name on one or more practice websites. EMPLOYEE is solely responsible for her or his own personal marketing presence, but EMPLOYER can provide guidance. EMPLOYEE will obtain EMPLOYER’S approval of such marketing for compliance with BBS guidelines prior to making the marketing materials public. Although such personal marketing efforts by EMPLOYEE may benefit the EMPLOYER, such EMPLOYEE efforts are optional. Time and money spent on such efforts by EMPLOYEE will not be reimbursed by the EMPLOYER.
