Position OverviewMedWorks Nuclear Imaging is seeking a skilled and dependable PRN Stress Technician to join our mobile nuclear imaging team in New Orleans. This position plays a critical role in the execution of cardiac stress testing and supports the mobile nuclear technologists and interpreting physicians in delivering accurate and timely diagnostic studies.
As a PRN provider, the Stress Technician will work on an as-needed basis depending on daily scheduling demands, clinic volume, and mobile route coverage.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in performing cardiac stress tests, including exercise and pharmacologic stress protocols, under the supervision of a physician.
- Prepare patients for testing by explaining procedures, obtaining medical history, and assessing for contraindications.
- Monitor and document patient vitals throughout the procedure (blood pressure, ECG, heart rate, patient symptoms).
- Administer stress agents (as permitted by state scope and delegated physician orders) and assist in managing patient responses.
- Collaborate closely with the mobile nuclear technologist to ensure seamless workflow and patient throughput.
- Ensure all equipment is functioning properly and communicate any issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation, adhering to MedWorks Nuclear Imaging protocols and regulatory guidelines.
- Support safe patient movement and positioning on imaging equipment.
- Provide excellent patient care and customer service in a mobile clinic environment.
- Follow all safety procedures including radiation safety protocols and emergency response steps.
- Experience: Prior experience performing cardiac stress testing (exercise and/or pharmacologic) strongly preferred.
- Certification:
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Medical Assistant, Paramedic, EMT, LPN, RN, or Cardiac Stress Technician background preferred (depending on state requirements for stress agent administration).
- Skills:
- Strong ECG interpretation skills.
- Strong IV start skills
- Ability to work independently in a mobile setting.
- Excellent communication and patient care abilities.
- Other Requirements:
- Reliable transportation to meet the mobile unit at designated clinic locations.
- Flexibility to work varying PRN shifts based on clinic needs.
- Professionalism and strong attention to detail.
- Mobile nuclear imaging unit traveling to clinics throughout the New Orleans area.
